The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has published a gazette notification declaring November 26 as Constitution Day. Until this year, the same day has been celebrated as Law Day, to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly.
According to the notification, this move also marks the celebration of the 125th birth anniversary year of Dr. BR Ambedkar, Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Constituent Assembly.
Henceforth, the government plans to celebrate every November 26 as Constitution Day “to promote constitutional values among citizens.”
To spread the importance of the Indian Constitution, We in the school observed November 26 as the Constitution Day of India. The day has also been declared as the Constitution Day to spread awareness about the its architect Dr B.R. Ambedkar. The day was announced by the Prime Minister,, after he laid the foundation stone of Dr Ambedkar Memorial .
How well do we know about the Indian Constitution, keeping this theme in mind the students of class 11th Arts SBPS, (Vrusti, Anupama,Yash,Kiran and Heena) under the table guidance of Mr. Chakrapani conducted a skit that highlighted the theme. The same programme was staged as a continuation on the next day, with a speech on the making of the constitution its functions Fundamental Rights and Duties and the Preamble. Charts and Posters were made and displayed by the students and incorporated as a part of the presentation.
A pledge was taken by the entire staff and students and the management of the school to follow and safeguard our Indian Constitution. The programnme concluded by a speech by Principal Mr. Chakrapani said “on this day, every year, school children will be taught about constitution and Dr. Ambedkar. He explained why our constitution is known as a Living Documentas he paid his homage to the great Indian Leader Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
