Field Trip – 7th Standard

A field trip was organized to the ‘Water purification plant’ as a part of educational activity for the students of Std VII. This plant was built by Maharaja Krishnakumar Sinhji.
Here the students learned how the raw water is filtered. Raw water from Mahi pariage and Shetrunjay dam is collected and passed through girt to remove floating impurities. This water is then passed to the sedimentation tanks where heavy impurities are allowed to settle. The water from here is taken through pipes to sand beds for filtration. This filtered water is then treated with chlorine gas to disinfect and then the water is supplied to the people.
Students found it interesting as they learned from this activity how water reaches their homes for drinking and other domestic uses.
