Honoring Capt. Kiritsinhji Gohil: Bhavnagar’s Bravery in the Haifa Battle
In World War – I, Bhavnagar state contributed 87 infantry soldiers and 15 signalmen who achieved victory in the Haifa battle on September 3, 1918. Their remarkable bravery, dedication, and valor in the final cavalry charge of the war are commemorated on September 23 as “Haifa Day.”
The Krantiveer Sardarsinhji Seva Trust and Bhavnagar District Former Soldiers’ Association honored the families of Shri Kapt. Kiritsinhji Gohil and Shrimati Amarjyotiba Gohil for their unwavering loyalty to Bhavnagar state, symbolizing a legacy of dedication and patriotism. પ્રથમ વિશ્વયુધ્ધમાં ભાવનગર રાજયનાં ૮૭ કેવલરી સૈનિકો તેમજ ૧૫ સિગ્નલમેન સૈનિકોએ હાઈફાની લડાઈમાં જોધપુર પ્લાન્સર્સ, હૈદરાબાદ પ્લાન્સર્સ અને મૈસુર કેવલરી સાથે ર૩ સપ્ટેમ્બર ૧૯૧૮ ના રોજ હાઈફા બંદર પર વિજય મેળવ્યો. અનન્ય સાહસ, વિરતા, પરાક્રમ અને ક્ષાત્રત્વ સમર યુધ્ધ કૌશલ્યને દાખવ્યુ, વિશ્વનાં અંતિમ કેવલરી યુધ્ધમાં મળેલી વિજય નાં ગૌરવવંતા ઈતિહાસની યાદમાં ૨૩ સપ્ટેમ્બર ને “ધી વિકટરી ઓફ હાઈફા’ નાં યુધ્ધવિરોની યાદમાં મનાવવામાં આવે છે.
