Literacy Day – September 2022 | Silver Bells Public School
Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire. ~W.B. Yeats
Being literate is empowering. Understanding this, UNESCO declared 8 September as Literacy Day in the year 1967 and since then International Literacy Day is celebrated annually around the world. To mark this day, Silver Bells Public School in collaboration with Lajja Foundation and SEWA Organized a two-day learning programme for the underprivileged children. The students were firstly welcomed with a warm greeting and a prayer song. Later the students were taken to Audio- Visual lab of the school. Students were entertained with a Gujarati story on the theme “Nothing is Impossible “. Later the session compiled of learning of basic alphabets in Gujarati and English, the most enjoyed part of the session was joining dots and colouring. Students enjoyed outdoor games and watching different educational video. The focus of this activity was communication skills, where they learnt to tell about themselves. Students were motivated by gifting them books and colour boxes and some yummy snacks that they enjoyed.
